Introduction
Linux! Ya know that right? The OS that every tech geek says is better then Windows and MacOS. The OS that is open source and free to use.
No offense btw!
Now look I get it, Linux is a great OS and I know it's mostly used for servers and stuff. But for the desktop users, it's just not really there just yet. I know there are some distros that are really good for desktop users like Ubuntu, but if you just want something that just works out of the box, most people will just get Windows or a Mac.
But if you are like me who fuckking hates Microsoft and their bullshit, you would want to try something else.
So Minty!
So I decided to try Linux Mint, because I heard it's one of the most user friendly distros out there. I first started using Mint back when I shoved it into some crappy HP laptop. It did the job done even improving the Laptop in some situations. But I have to say, I was pretty surpised about how good it was coming back to Mint after all of these years.
The installation process was pretty straightforward, and I didn't have any issues with it. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, and I was able to find all the apps I needed without any problems. The software manager is also pretty good, but I still used terminal and the website's download page to install most of my shit.
Now usually when I do try a linux distro I tend to install KDE Plasma, but from what I heard my friend did strongly advise me not to do so. But... This was after I installed KDE and didn't bother switching back, whoops!

Now I didn't try playing steam games and such but I have tried doing things that I tend to do like VSCode and Krita. I even tried a program called Sober which is basically just Roblox but playable on Linux. All of my tests did work out well, so I wasn't complaining. But there is some issues that I would like to explain here.
Some issues.
We all know by now, let's just cut to the chase
Compatibility
Now there are some issues when it does come to linux. One of the major things is compatibility.
Now I know that some companies like Valve are making a layer compatibility like proton for example. But then again there's some apps that wouldn't work on linux such as adobe for example. (I tend to use Premiere for editing)
Now I know there is some ways to get Windows apps to work on linux one of which is Wine. (Not to be confused with the drink silly!)
Now really just as I said, I never had further tested the compatibility fully myself but I have tested linux versions of some stuffs like Krita and it worked pretty well. Then again I wouldn't fully move yet until there's better compatibility.
The Learning Curve
Now I know that Linux Mint is one of the most user friendly distros out there, but there's still a learning curve for people who are used to Windows or MacOS. Ubuntu or Mint are pretty good starting points for new users, but when you get to other stuffs like Arch or Gentoo, it can be hell.
Some people don't like the terminal itself, which I can personally agree with. Then again it's not that hard to learn simple basics of Linux Terminal.
Linux is good for one thing, and that's freedom. You can do basically anything with your operating system, but that also means you have to take care of it yourself.
cough accidentally destroying the OS. coughBut overall, I think the learning curve is not that bad, you just need to be willing to learn. And with Linux Mint, I think it's a good starting point for new users.
Conclusion
Overall, I think Linux Mint is a great distro for desktop users. It's user friendly, easy to navigate, and has a good selection of apps. But there are still some issues with compatibility and the learning curve for new users. But if you're willing to learn and take care of your OS, then I think Linux Mint is a great choice.
So would I recommend Linux Mint? Yes, I would! But I would also recommend doing some research and trying out different distros to see what works best for you. Ubuntu is also a good choice, but I honestly just prefer Mint more.
AND PLEASEEEE DON'T FUCKING USE ARCH OR GENTOO AS UR FIRST LINUX SYSTEM I SWEAR TO GOD-
Anyway, I apologize for the massive delay for this blog post. School and all of that shit has been delaying me, hope you enjoyed reading.
